FC Helsingør can confirm that certain misunderstandings have arisen in the media regarding our match on Sunday.

It is correct that on our website on Friday we wrote that we had been working on various solutions for how Sunday’s match could be played. One of the proposed solutions that was being discussed was to move the match to one of the “backup stadiums” we had provided to the Danish League Association. Casa Arena in Horsens is one of these stadiums. But we also wrote that we had assessed that it would give Horsens too great an advantage in sporting terms to play two home matches against the same opponent.

Therefore, it was never realistically in play to hold the match at Casa Arena in Horsens, and we worked exclusively with solutions on Zealand leading up to Sunday’s match. We were phrased as having “offered to play the match in Horsens.” This was only partially correct. The offer to play in Horsens only applied if the match otherwise could not be played and had to be canceled. This was solely part of the initial discussions, and we and the Danish League Association jointly assessed that it would give Horsens an unfair sporting advantage, and it was therefore never a real possibility.

Certain media outlets have made accusations that we are “indifferent to the Superliga” and have acted like “complete amateurs.” We were all along aware of getting the match played as fairly in sporting terms as possible, and throughout the week our full focus was on arranging the match against Horsens with as little inconvenience as possible for rights holders, fans, and opponents. We succeeded in arranging fan buses, having sponsor events moved, and getting nearly 600 spectators to Farum, and the match was played to the full satisfaction of rights holders, the Danish League Association, and our sporting opponents.
