FC Helsingør has signed former FC Copenhagen and FC Nordsjælland player Thomas Kristensen, better known as “TK”.
Thomas Kristensen has played over 200 Superliga matches for FCK and FCN, and more than 100 matches abroad for Dutch ADO Den Haag and Australian Brisbane Roar. In addition, he has played seven matches for the Danish national football team.
After training with FCH for some time, TK was ready for the challenge in 2. Division:
– My family and I had come home after five years abroad, and then I got the opportunity to train up here, where I have been for the last three weeks.
– I just had to figure out whether I wanted to keep playing football, but it quickly felt like a good match, both sportingly and geographically, where my wife and I wanted to stay in the capital area. The squad seems really good, and it has been fantastic to come up here and be confirmed that I still had the desire and ability to continue. There are many young players here, both from Denmark and abroad, and the plan is that, thanks to my age and experience, I can pass on some experience if there is anyone who can make use of it.
– I still see myself as a central midfielder, but I am willing to play wherever Eske (Morten Eskesen, ed.) can use me, and in general I think it seems like a very exciting project they have going on up here, with facilities that at the 2. division level one can both be happy with and proud of.
Head coach Morten Eskesen is delighted that FCH have been able to sign Thomas Kristensen:
– “TK” is a player I am very happy to bring in. He brings very extensive experience from the highest level and a distinct winning culture, which is one of the things he is supposed to help build here at the club. He also brings fresh eyes and new energy to the squad and can to a great extent be a role model for our many young players.
– He has been training with us for some time and has impressed us with his physical condition. He has been in the top three of the squad physically since he arrived, which is not bad for a man who has passed the age of 36. He is to step in and be a leader for the team, and during the trial training he has already shown that he is good at directing and organizing. In addition, he is a player who can cover both central midfield and central defense, so he also gives us more strings to our tactical bow. We will be pleased to have him, I am sure of that.
36-year-old Thomas Kristensen has signed a one-year contract with FC Helsingør
