After the home victory over Randers, and a nearly two-week international break, the first team was back in action on Sunday against Lyngby. Unfortunately, it was the home side that could emerge victorious from the match.
FC Helsingør lined up in the new orange third kit, but without the three new attacking players Osama Akharraz, Matheus Leiria and William Kvist. Osama was assessed as not quite match fit, William Kvist was not included in the squad, and Leiria has still not received his work permit.
The match started fairly evenly, but after just under ten minutes Lyngby took the lead, and David Boysen had a sneaky attempt on goal, a mix of a cross and a shot.
However, FCH were actually closest to scoring at the start, in bizarre fashion, when a goal kick from Mikkel Bruhn sailed over friends and foes alike, including Lyngby goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen, but the shot went just wide of the post.
Lyngby then began a period of siege on the Helsingør goal, and especially Mayron George and David Boysen were dangerous, repeatedly forcing Bruhn into fine saves.
After 39 minutes, things went wrong, as a hard cross hit Andreas Holm unluckily and went between Mikkel Bruhn's legs. An unfortunate own goal.
1-0 Lyngby BK
The Helsingør players had trouble getting their attacking play going, and the mobile Lyngby players caused the FCH defense quite a few problems. At halftime, Christian Lønstrup chose to replace Ricki Olsen with Adnan Mohammad, and change the formation a bit, which gave a little more pace to the attack.
Five minutes after halftime, FCH fought their way back into the match, as “Malte” Johannsen cut into the Lyngby penalty area and was brought down. The referee pointed to the spot without hesitation, and Anders Holst calmly converted the resulting penalty.
1-1 FC Helsingør.
However, it took less than another four minutes before Lyngby struck back, and on a lightning-fast counterattack Michael Lumb got through alone on the left side, and confidently beat a helpless Bruhn.
2-1 Lyngby
That was followed by a period in which FCH managed to put the play together a little better, but it did little good, as “Malte” after a little over an hour conceded a penalty against Lyngby's David Boysen, who was felled on his way into the box. Mikkel Bruhn was close to saving Boysen's shot, but could not prevent the goal.
3-1 Lyngby.
Bruhn had many fine saves in the match, and was generally the reason Lyngby did not extend their lead further. FCH's best attempt in the 2. half came from Anders Holst, who forced Mikkel Andersen into a top-class save on a cannonball of a long-range shot, which was even deflected on the way. But Helsingør did not come any closer. And so it was Lyngby who could leave the pitch with the three points at the final whistle, which on the day was hard to argue against. The win moves Lyngby up to eight points. FC Helsingør remain on nine.
