The first annual Sparekassen Sjælland Talent Award was presented at the final home match of the year, and went to defender Emil Sten Rasmussen, known as “Ras” from FC Helsingør’s U17 team.
The award is given to a youth player from FC Helsingør who, in addition to playing for the club, is also a student at Helsingør Elite Sports Academy. There are three criteria one must meet to be considered for the award. The player must strive for excellence both on the football pitch and in the classroom, and must also be socially responsible. In other words, one must not only be good at football, one must also be ambitious at school, as well as a good friend.
Emil Sten Rasmussen fully lives up to the requirements, and his class teacher Malene Schou attaches the following characterization to him:
– Emil is a young man in great development. Throughout his years on the Sports Line, Emil has grown from being a little boy to being a young man who now takes responsibility for both himself and his teammates. He is a natural focal point for his peers, and for the year groups below him, he is regarded as a role model – both as a teammate and as a football player. In terms of his academic work, Emil is always looking to improve and raise his level. He strives to achieve the best possible grades in his subjects, and makes the effort to make this possible. In every way a young man with the potential for great things.
Talent manager Marc Thevis also praises the young player:
“Ras” is a player who is always 100% dedicated. He has a really good understanding of football and his impact on our U17 team, even though he is only a first-year player, speaks for itself. At the same time, he is a player who contributes strongly to creating a strong community, with his inclusive manner and healthy values. He is a player who will be exciting to follow going forward, and who we have expectations for.
The other nominees for the award were; Nicklas Skou Holm – U19, Valdemar Axel Holze Licht-Larsen – U17, Joshua Hansen – U15 and Felix Morbeck – U14.
