In a football match that, it must be admitted, will probably not go down in history, FC Helsingør beat Husum BK 3-0 this evening.

The coaching staff had shaken up the lineup considerably, giving several of the usual reserve players the chance to show themselves on a somewhat bigger stage than usual. The first half was a somewhat messy affair, but it was FCH who had the biggest chances. Already after eight minutes, a fine Adnan Mohammad got through on the left side, but the goalkeeper came out strongly and blocked it. On the ensuing corner, the diminutive technician rose highest to a header(!), but it went just wide of the post.

Adnan Mohammad played a fine first half, and after a quarter of an hour he also had a shot against the post. But the ball would not go in.

The underdog Husum side, well backed by almost 900 spectators, did not let themselves be intimidated and stood strong defensively, especially in the pressing game in midfield. And after 20 minutes, they were close to a small cup sensation, when a dangerous header after a corner was only just cleared on the line by a relieving header from Daniel Jørgensen. It would, however, prove to be the only major chance the team from the lower division could create against a well-playing FCH back line.

And after 30 minutes, the decisive goal for FCH came from Daniel Stükler, who had earned his first start in Helsingør's attack. The quick attacking player was sent away on a fine counterattack and calmly put the ball in behind a helpless Husum goalkeeper.
1-0 FC Helsingør

The Husum players cleverly stressed the young FCH players for much of the match, and it was difficult to find the decisive openings in the massive wall. Tobias Christensen ended the half with a shot wide of the post, but they got no closer before halftime.

In the second half, the picture was much the same, and a fairly physical match became at times rather unsightly, not helped by the home team's habit of playing handball-like musical interludes at every corner, dead ball and yellow card. But gradually the Helsingør players began to establish themselves more offensively and came close through big chances for both Adnan Mohammad and Daniel Stükler, as well as a free header in the 72th minute for Daniel Jørgensen, who headed over.

Only after 87 minutes did the goal to 2-0 come, which finally put an end to the suspense in the match. Substitute William Kvist applied the finishing touch on a counterattack and tucked the ball in just before the goalkeeper got there to make the save. Great counterattacking play, and 2-0 to FC Helsingør.

In stoppage time, Daniel Jørgensen could then make up for his missed giant chance, when he got a touch on a low corner kick that was allowed to pass both friend and foe, and the central defender could celebrate his first goal in the Helsingør shirt.

Shortly afterwards, referee Benjamin Willaume-Jansen blew for full time, and Helsingør can look forward to the next round of the cup, where Hvidovre awaits away from home. That is on the 20th of September.
