FC Helsingør played another training match on Sunday afternoon in the lead-up to their return to 1. Division. The relegated side from Nykøbing FC came to visit, and were sent home by an impressive FCH team with a 4-0 defeat that could actually have been one or two goals larger.
FCH dominated the game for most of the match, and it had not been played more than four minutes before FCH got on the scoresheet. Carl Lange received the ball on the left side outside the box. He deftly poked the ball past his marker, who was completely beaten by the feint, took a couple of meters into the pitch, and sent the ball with a curling shot into the far corner, with no chance for Nykøbing's goalkeeper.
1-0 FC Helsingør
A few minutes later it was close again for Carl Lange, from the same spot in the box. But this time Nykøbing's goalkeeper had come out of his goal, and stopped the shot with a save using his foot. The ball went out to Oliver Kjærgaard, who struck it first time, but again the goalkeeper stopped the shot as he punched the ball away. However, it did not go any farther than to Kjærgaard's feet again, but this time Kjærgaard sent the shot over the goal.
After a quarter of an hour, FC Helsingør extended the lead. A Nykøbing player made a big mistake when he sent the ball straight to the feet of FCH's newly signed striker Sebastian Czajkowski. Alone with the goalkeeper, Czajkowski calmly waited for the goalkeeper's move, took a single touch, and placed the ball securely into the far corner.
2-0 FC Helsingør
After 19 minutes, FCH won a corner. Daniel Norouzi sent the ball in, Nykøbing cleared and the ball ended up at the feet of Frederik Juul Christensen, who decisively fired from directly in front of goal from 20-25 meters out. The ball dipped beautifully, but hit the crossbar. Good effort from Frederik Christensen.
With 27 minutes on the clock, Czajkowski had another big chance. Oliver Kjærgaard got the ball in the middle of the pitch, and beat two men with a great feint into the box. Kjærgaard held onto the ball until the attack was in position, and sent a sharp pass out to Czajkowski on the left flank. The striker cut inside toward goal, and tried to place the ball into the far corner. The ball went past the goalkeeper, but hit the inside of the post, danced along the line, and then went out into the box again, where Czajkowski, under heavy pressure, could not finish before a Nykøbing defender shut him down. Excellent build-up play, and one of those finishes that deserved better.
Nykøbing had had a few half-chances during the half, but we had to wait until the 37th minute before they got their first really big chance. A low cross from the right side flashed through friend and foe alike, and landed at the feet of a Nykøbing player in front of goal. He struck hard toward the right side of the goal, but Christoffer Petersen was alert and punched the shot away. Good save by “P”, who had not had much to do in the first half.
There were no goals at either end before the halftime whistle, so FC Helsingør could go into the dressing room with a 2-0 lead after a relatively dominant first 45 minutes.
The first big chance of the second half fell to Nykøbing in the 52th minute. An FCH defender went a little too hard at his man a meter outside the box, and conceded a free kick. A Nykøbing player curled it nicely over the wall, but right in the middle of the goal Christoffer Petersen was not fooled, and gathered the attempt.
Soon after, Czajkowski was close again. Carl Lange drove up on the right side, and sent a low ball in centrally. But right at Czajkowski's feet, Nykøbing's goalkeeper came out and killed the ball with a good tackle on the ball.
When the clock reached an hour, FC Helsingør got its biggest chance of the second half so far. Carl Lange again cut across the box from the left side, and finished toward the far corner. Nykøbing's goalkeeper saved the shot, but sent the ball straight to the feet of Sebastian Czajkowski, who should have scored from close in front of goal. But his composure failed him, and he sent his shot over the goal. Big chance for FC Helsingør.
After 65 minutes the coaching staff substituted Teddy Bergqvist and Mathias “Mac” Christensen on for Oliver Kjærgaard and Sebastian Czajkowski. That paid off already the following minute, as “Mac” rose highest to meet a well-delivered corner from Anders Holst, and between friend and foe headed the ball unchallenged into the net past Nykøbing's goalkeeper.
3-0 FC Helsingør
In the 73th minute Teddy Bergqvist was so close. An FCH player was brought down a couple of meters outside the box, and the referee correctly blew for a free kick. Teddy went for the ball, and struck a beautifully curled free kick around the wall and toward the near post, but the ball unfortunately just went wide of the post. Good effort from the Swede.
After 78 minutes, Frederik Bay was substituted on for his first match after a long injury break. He responded by sending a good ball in to Anders Holst, who quickly let the ball run on to Teddy Bergqvist. He played Holst again, and Holst finished with a good effort toward the near corner. However, the ball just sailed over the goal.
Two minutes later, Teddy Bergqvist went into a physical challenge in the box, and fell to the ground. The referee blew, but not for a penalty. Instead Teddy was booked for simulation, and since he already had a yellow card, he had to leave with a red card, and was replaced by Oliver Kjærgaard, who came on again.
But FC Helsingør still managed to increase its lead. After 84 minutes, “Mac” finished hard at goal, and the goalkeeper in the Nykøbing goal spilled another rebound. This time it fell to the feet of Anders Holst, who under heavy pressure in the six-yard box got the ball in.
4-0 FC Helsingør
No further goals were scored, and FC Helsingør thus took a clear victory over Nykøbing. The next training opponent is from a slightly higher shelf, when we visit Brøndby on 27. Unfortunately, away supporters are not currently open for that match.
