It ended level 2-2, as FCH played its last summer training match before the season kicks off. League rivals HB Køge hosted at Capelli Sports Park, and FC Helsingør could leave the match with a good feeling, as they were in full control for large parts of the game, and also led 2-0, until it eventually turned into a “training match,” and the many substitutions allowed HB Køge to come back into the game right at the end.

The first half was, however, characterized by really good defending from both teams, but also a high technical level from both FCH and HBK in the passing game. In particular, Kasper Enghardt caught the eye with many good actions, and Oliver Drost had several good actions going forward. From FCH’s side there were efforts from both Drost, Tonni Adamsen and Frederik Bay, but HB Køge’s defense managed to get a foot in the way every time. Only Bay managed to get an effort on target just before the break, but Snorre in the HB Køge goal tipped the shot around the post. A large handful of corner kicks, spread across both teams, were cleared in the box by two well-playing center-backs. So it was 0-0 when the teams went into halftime in the stifling heat.

Barely a minute and a half had been played in the second half before FC Helsingør got on the scoresheet. Nicklas Mouritsen received a good ball on the left side, drove up to the box, and sent a hard, low cross into the small area. The ball went through the legs of an HB Køge defender and fell to Oliver Drost, who controlled it and hammered it into the net from the edge of the small area. Killer instinct from Drost.
0-1 FC Helsingør

Shortly after, Nikolaj Hansen was close to getting on the scoresheet when he rose highest from a corner, but Snorre made a superb save in the small area, between the feet of friend and foe.

But in the 58th minute it was no longer possible for HB Køge. Tonni Adamsen received the ball ten meters inside the opponent’s half and drove forward with it himself. Outside the box he made a couple of sharp dribbles and got into the box past his marker. From a position a couple of meters inside the box he blasted the ball high and hard into the net, and Snorre dove in vain. A brilliant solo goal by Adamsen.
0-2 FC Helsingør

After that the match entered a phase where both teams made several substitutions, and the rhythm was broken up a bit for both teams.

That created a few more opportunities for both teams to get through the lines, but unfortunately for FC Helsingør, it was the home side that broke through first. After 78 minutes HB Køge won a corner, and in the small area the physically strong Effiong Nsungusi rose highest at the near post and headed the ball diagonally across the box and into the far corner.
1-2 HB Køge

And just two minutes later the home side managed to equalize, when a cross from the left side found Marius Elvius, who suddenly stood very free on the edge of the box. Elvius confidently struck the ball into the net with a hard shot beyond Kevin Stuhr’s reach, and the teams were level again.
2-2 HB Køge

Both teams tried to set up counterattacks in the last ten minutes, but first Elvius missed a big chance when he shot wide, and then Nikolaj Hansen missed a big header chance at the other end. Thus the match ended level, but FC Helsingør could take comfort from having been the better side for large parts of the game, where they had played with something resembling the starting-11.

The next match is the season’s first competitive fixture. It is on Friday 23 at 19.00 at home in Helsingør, where Fremad Amager come to visit.
