Local investor completed a transaction on Sunday, 28 August, bringing ownership of FC Helsingør back into Danish hands. Thus, businessman Lasse Lindblad has taken over the entire shareholding from the former American ownership group, Helsingor USA LLC.
With this deal, the first step has been taken toward a “Friends of Helsingør” model, and Lasse Lindblad expects the ownership circle to expand considerably over the coming months. “We have entered into this ownership to ensure a good local anchoring and, not least, to ensure that a good and long-term ownership solution is created consisting of several local investors in the ownership group. In this connection, we have already sensed interest from several investors who share the same thoughts as us.” says Lasse Lindblad.
Lasse Lindblad himself lives in Ålsgårde and regularly attends both Helsingør Stadion and Frem Hellebæk’s home games. “I have a passion for both football and our local community, and I have seen how much it means that we have a local flagship. At the same time, we have fantastic talent development carried out by the good people in the FC Helsingør association. Right now we see how skilled young players from the academy are making their mark both on our own team and at other top clubs in Denmark, and the good work must continue. That is why I am also looking forward to us creating even more synergy between the senior team and the academy, and that together over the coming years we can turn up the investment in talent development even further.”
The ambitions for both talent development and sporting success are present in the new ownership, as Lasse Lindblad states: “Now we will use the coming time to consolidate the club, but it is important for me to point out that we still have high sporting ambitions. Most of us probably remember the great experiences we had in the 2017/2018 season, where, as is well known, we were in the Superliga, and it is a clear objective for us that we must return to the Superliga.”
The chairman of the academy and of the FC Helsingør association, Finn Moseholm, states: “I am pleased that the American owners gave us the opportunity to get the club back into local hands. It is wonderful that Lasse Lindblad is taking on the great responsibility for the club, the local community and the fans, and not least has great focus on the huge talent work that we have carried out in the talent academy, and which will become a key element in the future.”
Finn Moseholm continues: “It is also wonderful that Lasse Lindblad is focused on broadening the ownership, so that the club becomes widely rooted. It provides a widespread sense of commitment and loyalty to the club. I look forward to us once again creating the shared identity that can bind us together as a club.”
With the takeover, Jordan Gardner steps down as chairman of the board of FC Helsingør A/S, while Lasse Lindblad takes over this position.
