After two and a half seasons at FC Helsingør, Oliver Drost is no longer to be found in his hometown.
Drost had a contract in Helsingør until the summer, but has chosen to go abroad for the first time in his career. The trip goes to Bangalore in India, where he will play for Bengaluru FC for the rest of the season.
India’s league system is similar to what we know from MLS, where the season ends with playoff matches. Bengaluru FC lost last year’s final there. It is therefore a top club that the striker is now becoming part of, and he is very much looking forward to the new challenge.
“It’s an exciting adventure, both professionally for me and of course also for my family. I have always played in Denmark, so if I was going to try something else, it had to be now. When the opportunity arose, it made a lot of sense, and hopefully it will be a good experience.”
However, the 28-year-old Drost also leaves Helsingør with a somewhat unfulfilled feeling.
“I was born and raised here. This is my city and my club, so I am also incredibly sorry to leave the club in the position it is in right now. That said, I also have great confidence that the boys will get the job done. In the last matches it has been the margins that have been decisive, and with the last percentages and renewed energy they will surely save their lives in the 1 Div.”
We thank Oliver Drost for his time and efforts at FC Helsingør and wish him all the best in India!.
