The match was barely a few minutes old when FC Helsingør took the lead with a fine goal from Swedish trialist Teddy Bergqvist. It was generally FC Helsingør that applied pressure from the start of the match, and Næstved had plenty to do in defense. It was therefore not entirely in line with the run of play and chances that Næstved equalized after a quarter of an hour.
But FCH continued to press relentlessly, and the match flowed nicely back and forth with a slight advantage to FC Helsingør. After a corner kick, an FCH player went to ground in the box in a duel. It was a little hard to judge who was brought down, but it was easy to see that it was Lucas Haren who confidently converted the ensuing penalty for a 2-1 lead for FC Helsingør.
That was also the score when halftime arrived, and the two teams could go into the warm-up area and discuss the half.
Shortly after the start of the second half, Lucas Haren was at it again. He received a good pass at his feet and calmly put the ball past Næstved’s goalkeeper.
But Næstved did not give up so easily, and came back into the match right after FCH’s goal. A cross-field ball was put away with certainty and no chance for Christoffer Petersen, who replaced Kevin Stuhr Ellegaard in the second half, and then Næstved were back to 2-3.
The second half was more even than the first. Christoffer Petersen and the post saved a couple of close-range efforts from Næstved, and Næstved’s keeper also had a couple of good saves, biggest when he stopped a shot from Bergqvist on a breakaway, where the Swedish striker had otherwise brilliantly worked himself free, when he took the ball with him with a fine chest control.
There were a number of substitutions from both teams, but the match kept its intensity right up until the final whistle, even though there were no further goals. FC Helsingør could thus record its second win in the training matches, which could actually have been a goal or two bigger.
