FC Helsingør have appointed the 51-year-old Morten Eskesen as the new head coach. Eskesen comes from a position as assistant coach at Superliga club Randers FC.

Before his time at Randers FC, Morten Eskesen worked as a coach at clubs such as Kalundborg, Greve and Karlslunde, before he devoted himself for a period to civilian life as HR manager at the company Habitus. He was coaching Køge Nord FC when he was brought to Randers FC as assistant coach two years ago.

Morten Eskesen comes to FC Helsingør on a free transfer, and starts at the club immediately, and the new head coach is looking forward to getting started in his new job
– The project I was presented with sounded really exciting. I have had quite a few conversations with Jordan, Matt and Gellert, and as I have known for some time that I wanted to be head coach again, I see this as a really good opportunity.

My strengths are as a motivator and leader. I bring quite a lot of leadership experience. As a player, I was captain at Køge Boldklub and ended my career playing in the Superliga with them, and since then I have worked both inside and outside the world of football, first as director in Køge, and later as a coach in Kalundborg and Greve, before I scaled football down a bit, and got a job in civilian life, where I was HR manager in what today is called Habitus.

After the children grew up, I returned to football, first in Karlslunde, then in Køge Nord FC, from where I was brought to Randers FC, where I have been for two years.

My, and our, first task will be to build a winning culture, after some tumultuous years up here. It is very much about looking at the mental side, and creating a training culture that can bring out the individual player's abilities.

Now we start by watching tomorrow's training match against Lyngby, and meeting the staff and administration. After that, the work really begins, where I have to watch training sessions with the boys, and look at what the individual players can do, and what player types I have available, and then we have to lay out the tactics accordingly.

We also need to find exactly the right assistant coach, and we are already well under way with that work. I am enormously excited to get started up here.

FCH chairman of the board Jordan Gardner is pleased to have found the club's new coach:
– We are really excited to present Morten. He has very extensive experience in Danish football, from the Denmark Series all the way up to Superliga level, which will be very important in our pursuit of promotion to the first division, and in the longer term the Superliga.

He brings, first and foremost, a lot of motivation and leadership, and our assessment is that he strikes exactly the right balance between talent development and a pronounced winning mentality.

Head coach at Randers FC, Thomas Thomasberg, sends kind words in the direction of his departing assistant:
– Morten is a fantastic guy who can always spread his good mood to others. Here he has worked a lot with the mentality of players and staff, and with the development of getting the players' abilities into play and making them use their skills. In addition, of course, he also has some solid footballing skills, otherwise you don't work in a Superliga club. His areas of responsibility have included work with the young players, as well as set pieces. In addition, of course, he has also contributed input on the tactical side, like the rest of the team here. He is a really good guy, whom I have enjoyed working with very much.

Morten Eskesen has initially been given a two-year contract.
