At the start of August, FC Helsingør won 4-2 away against Hvidovre in the 1 round of the Cup. There FC Helsingør's top scorer from last season, Tonni Adamsen, scored twice. However, he has since moved to Superliga club Silkeborg and the club has also said goodbye to other key players.
– That is how it is every year. People come and people leave. We were strong last season, which has meant the departure of some really good players, and there is always a lot going on in August. We still have a lot of quality, but as mentioned, we lack depth so we are not as vulnerable.
Indeed, depth is an issue due to the two long-term injuries Daniel Norouzi and Kasper Enghardt, as well as the recently injured goalkeeper Stan van Bladeren.
– Daniel and Kasper have both been injured for a longer time before the season, so that is nothing new. But Hjalte and Stan are both out, which makes us a little vulnerable in the goalkeeper position. We need to work on having a broader squad over the next three weeks and I have great confidence that we will solve that issue.
– Hjalte will be back next week and the foot needs a few more days of rest. Instead, we have brought our talented U19 goalkeeper, Andreas Wang, into the squad for the match against Hvidovre.
Morten Eskesen and the rest of the squad meet Hvidovre IF again on Saturday, this time at home, and an exciting and hopefully high-scoring match is in store.
– I hope we can score 4 goals. We probably can't surprise each other, so it comes down to who is best on the day. They play with a lot of freedom and so do we – We match each other well.
Cup draw.
Wednesday D.10/8 featured the draw for the 2 round of DBU's Cup tournament. Here the groups were divided into east and west and FC Helsingør could therefore only draw teams from the same east group.
The draw fell on the promoted side from Lyngby.
– It is an exciting match. There will be many fans from both teams. It will be a match at a high level. We are playing with many new players, so we are looking forward to that. Matches against Lyngby are usually entertaining, as it is a small local derby.
The match date for the cup game against Lyngby has not yet been set, but the match will be played between D. 30/8-2/9
