Jørgen Jensen was born on 20 May 1940. He joined the first team in 1958 from HIF's youth department, where he had played as a goalkeeper since he was seven years old. He played 297 matches for Helsingør IF's first team from 1958 – 1971, which was the club record at the time. He missed only about twenty matches in the 13 seasons he played on the 1 team.

He scored a single goal for the club from the penalty spot, in a 10-0 victory over Hørsholm in the cup tournament, and was part of the HIF team that reached the quarter-finals of the cup tournament in 1969, where the club was knocked out by a narrow defeat to Lyngby.

He later worked as a 2. team coach and goalkeeper coach at HIF. Jørgen Jensen lived in Helsingør until his death, and was at the stadium to watch FC Helsingør's first team play as recently as the match against FC Midtjylland in early August.

May his memory be honored.
