During the night leading into Thursday, a new and very large FCH star was lit in the sky.
The FC Helsingør family lost a very dear member, and Torben's own family lost a loving and dedicated husband and father when Torben Ellegaard lost his battle against the cancer that was diagnosed at the beginning of January this year during the night leading into Thursday.
In daily life, Torben was employed as Partner Manager at FC Helsingør, but over the years he was also a volunteer assistant coach for our U17 team, volunteer team leader in the youth department, and volunteer helper at the club. He was even a sponsor at the club for many years through his civilian role, before being employed full time at FC Helsingør.
In private, Torben was a loving and dedicated husband and father, who always put his family first, and who valued and was incredibly proud of his 2 children, Emma and Frederik, as well as his wife, Sussie. Torben never hid the fact that the three of them meant the most to him, and he cherished their moments together above all else.
Torben was in every respect the embodiment of what characterizes FC Helsingør, and he lived and breathed for the club. Torben was thus also, quite naturally, with us in Viborg when we secured the historic promotion to the Superliga. A moment that for us at the club now stands as an especially special memory. Not only was Torben a fantastically well-liked employee and colleague, but for many of us Torben was also a really good friend. And when we look around our club, we can state that regardless of whether someone knew him briefly or for a long time, Torben was a person who left his mark wherever he went – good marks, to be sure.
FC Helsingør has suffered a great loss, but Torben Ellegaard will always be part of the club, and we will carry him in our hearts on our onward journey as we fight for new goals. For we know that this is exactly what Torben would have wanted.
For Frederik, Emma & Sussie the loss is enormous and irreplaceable, and everyone at FC Helsingør has you in our thoughts. You will always be part of FC Helsingør.

FC Helsingør hopes that many will come and pay Torben their last respects together with us when we remember him at the stadium in connection with the home match, Sunday 19. August against FC Fredericia.
