FC Helsingør says goodbye to defender Mathias “Malte” Johannsen and striker Melvin Frithzell, whose contracts are terminated by agreement with the club.
Director Janus Kyhl says about the departure:
-“Malte” very much wants to play more football than we have been able to offer him, as he for long periods has been behind Frederik Bay in the preferred position at left back. We have therefore jointly decided to terminate the contract, and part ways in peace and friendship. Malte has been a loyal and professional player who has worked hard during his time at FC Helsingør. He is a good guy who has been important for the unity in the squad, and who has always shown up with a smile on his face and spread good cheer. We wish “Malte” all the best in his future career.
– With Melvin, unfortunately it never became the good match we had hoped for. He has been far back in the queue for playing time, and has been plagued by a number of recurring minor injuries. Combined with the fact that Melvin is based in Sweden and has had quite a long travel time back and forth, we have not succeeded in unlocking the talent in front of goal that Melvin obviously possesses. Melvin himself has wanted to try to find a club closer to home, where he can at the same time get more time in the first team, so therefore we agreed to terminate his contract so that he can get his career back on track. We thank Melvin for his time at the club.
Mathias Johannsen came from Næstved in January 2017, and made 20 appearances for FCH. Melvin Frithzell came to FCH in December 2017 and made four appearances and scored one goal in the Superliga for FC Helsingør
