FC Helsingør played a fine training match against Lyngby BK on Tuesday afternoon, which was won 1-0. FC Helsingør dominated the game throughout and could easily have won by more with a little more sharpness.

After just a quarter of an hour, FCH had its first big chance when Lyngby goalkeeper Frederik Schram sent a ball straight to the feet of an FCH player. Carl Lang got the ball on the edge of the box and tried a lob, but Schram got back and tipped the ball away from danger on the line. Oliver Kjærgaard was ready to shoot at the clearance, but had to watch his shot be blocked. A big mistake by Frederik Schram, who did however improve greatly during the match and was the main reason Lyngby did not concede more than a single goal.

Schram thus saved several dangerous efforts from both Lucas Haren, Tonni Adamsen, Carl Lange and especially Callum McCowatt, who on several occasions had to watch Schram get good shots under control.

We therefore had to wait until the 38th minute before FC Helsingør broke the deadlock. A through ball from Oliver Kjærgaard found the in-form Callum McCowatt, who laid it forward to Carl Lange, who was through on his own. Alone with Schram, Lange elegantly chipped the ball over the Lyngby goalkeeper and into the net for 1-0. The second match in a row that Carl Lange chipped in a goal against a Superliga opponent, after doing so against FC Copenhagen at the weekend as well.

In the second half FC Helsingør continued the high press on Lyngby’s young side, and a well-playing midfield repeatedly linked up good sequences of passes, led by Frederik Juul Christensen, who displayed his usual work rate in midfield.

FCH created a great many chances, and especially McCowatt threatened Lyngby’s goal time and again, but Lyngby’s defence, and especially Frederik Schram, managed to shut down the home side’s attacks.

Lyngby were rare visitors in the FCH box, and a long-range shot from Brian Hamalainen, which went a short distance over Kevin Stuhr’s goal, was really the closest the visitors came to scoring.

Thus Lange’s goal proved enough to take the victory, but FC Helsingør could leave the pitch with a good feeling about the tactical and footballing level shown on the day.
