On Friday evening, everything was set for a big night of sports in Helsingør, as our own boys hosted the league’s direct rivals from BK Frem on the newly laid surface at Helsingør Stadium. At the same time, Nordsjælland Handball had returned to Helsingør Hall for a while, where they were to face the top team GOG.

At the Stadium, the almost thousand fans in attendance had to wait until the second half before the game really got going. Both teams made changes from the start of the second half, and for FC Helsingør this meant that Nikolaj Bagger replaced Alexander Hvid, who had been given the chance from the start this time.
Both teams came out better in the second half, and the intensity was clearly raised. For FC Helsingør, this was shown through better ball circulation and higher pressing. After 56 minutes of play, the counterpress led to Dimitri Kassekar acrobatically winning the ball and sending it on to captain Mathias Christensen, who quickly read the situation and elegantly – from the halfway line – sent the ball in a beautiful arc over the out-of-position BK Frem goalkeeper.

Unfortunately, the lead lasted only a little under twenty minutes, as BK Frem were awarded a penalty after seventy-five minutes. Hjalte Petersen dived to the right side, but the shot was placed so far to the side that he only just got his fingertips to it.

With ten minutes to go, all three points had to be chased, and the coaching staff sent Souheib Dhaflaoui and Donart Bedjeti onto the pitch in place of Hjalte Lærke and goalscorer Mathias Christensen.

With just five minutes left, however, the referee once again pointed to the spot in the Helsingør box, and BK Frem’s top scorer Salieu Drammeh was thus given the chance to take all three points home from Helsingør Stadium.
Fortunately, Hjalte Petersen had already read him on the first attempt and therefore again dived to the right side. This time he prevented the ball from going in and thus helped secure one important point for FC Helsingør.

Shortly before the final whistle, substitute Donart Bedjeti had to leave the pitch with an injury after a hard tackle, and young Emil Morgan therefore also got a brief chance to test the new surface in the dying minutes of the match.

At Helsingør Hall, Nordsjælland Handball managed to do the same against GOG, and thus an exciting Friday evening ended with two draws and a share of the points for both teams.

Thank you to all the fans who showed up, both for football and handball!
Already next weekend, we can once again welcome football at Helsingør Stadium, when the team from Middelfart on Funen comes to visit.
This match will be played on Saturday, 2 November at 14.00.

See you at the stadium!
