Helsingør loses 3-0 to FC Nordsjælland
FC Helsingør met FC Nordsjælland Saturday afternoon in a training match at Right To Dream Park, where the boys were in action for the first time in over two months. It was also the first match under the leadership of interim head coach Daniel K. Pedersen, who took over the post after Morten Eskesen yesterday announced that he was leaving the job to instead take up a position as national coach for the U18 national team.
However, that was not to prove of great significance for the preparations for today’s match, as the plan had already been laid and the focus here was on playing time.
1. Half
Helsingør started well on the ball, but unfortunately it took no more than 6 minutes before FC Nordsjælland broke through on the right side and put the ball in for a bit of a scramble in the box, before it fell to the feet of Mohamed Diomande, who with his left foot placed the ball beyond Mandé in the Helsingør goal.
Nordsjælland continued the high press for the first 15-20 minutes of the match, after which Helsingør found some calm in the game and played wider on the flanks, though without becoming really dangerous. After just under 40 minutes, Helsingør put in a high press on the defense and in the hunt for a loose ball outside the box, Alexander Lyng had to take a tumble on the grass. He had to be substituted and shortly after the referee blew for halftime.
1-0 Nordsjælland
2. Half
FC Helsingør came out well for the 2. half and after an hour of play were fully in the match. Unfortunately, luck was against the boys today. After 63 minutes Nordsjælland’s Coulibaly picked up the ball and sent a shot toward the bottom corner, and although substitute Hjalte Petersen got all the way down to it, the ball hit the post and via Hjalte’s leg and the crossbar the ball went into the goal.
After that the tempo in the match dropped a little and although Helsingør played a good match with good moments, FC Nordsjælland underlined in the final minute that there is a reason why they are currently the Superliga’s best team, as they made it the final score of the match 3-0
A cold affair in Farum therefore ends in a defeat for Helsingør’s boys and we can now look ahead to next weekend, where the trip goes to Valby and BK Frem from 2. Division await.
