The talented right back Johannes Ritter has had to realize that the hip injury that has plagued him for well over a year is so serious that he cannot continue his career as a professional footballer. Therefore, he has chosen to end his career at the end of this half-season.

Ritter himself is composed, as he knew where it was heading:
– It is unfortunately no surprise, but it is indeed sad. It has been my childhood dream to be a professional, and it has been fantastic to take it step by step up the ranks, and keep building all the time. It is enormously frustrating when it is not yourself, but your body, that tells you to stop.

Everyone at the club has been very patient during my injury period, and I would like to send thanks to everyone on the staff, especially those who have worked with me during my injury period. Everyone has been incredibly kind and patient, and I am sorry that I will not be able to give anything back.

Now I need a couple of months to recover, and get used to the idea of a life without football, and then I need to figure out what I should spend my life on. Right now I think it will be something outside the world of football, but we shall see.

Director Janus Kyhl is also incredibly sad to see Ritter leave the club:
– Johannes is a fantastic guy who has shown tremendous strength and perseverance during his injury period. We were very excited when he joined the club, because he has always been a very big defensive talent. There was not much doubt in our minds that in the longer term he would end up playing at much bigger addresses than Helsingør. He was an important part of the team that got us promoted to the Superliga back then, and it was great that we could at least give him that experience. So it is regrettable that it has to end like this, but unfortunately that is how it is in the world of football, where we see these injuries that simply cannot be healed. Johannes has also been very popular in the dressing room, and with his attitude towards things, I am sure he will succeed in life, no matter which shelf he ends up on.

Johannes Ritter came from FC Nordsjælland in 2016, and played a total of 25 matches for FCH, including both promotion finals against Viborg, when the club was promoted to the Superliga last season.
