So on Sunday at 16, FC Helsingør finally makes its debut in the Alka Superliga. The first test of strength is however against a team that the Helsingør squad knows particularly well, namely the fellow promoted side from Hobro.
Christian Lønstrup is looking forward to getting the season underway:
– Everyone is, basically, just looking forward to getting started. We have trained really well, we have played good friendly matches, the squad is beginning to fall into place and both the old and new players are itching to get started. As a coach, you are now just excited to see what level the squad is at after the good pre-season. And personally, I am looking forward to greeting, and playing against, Vito and Minor. It will be fun.
It is two teams that in last season went hand in hand, both in the battle for promotion and in terms of results. Thus the three head-to-head matches in the NordicBet Liga ended with one Hobro win, one draw and most recently a 3-0 win for Helsingør, on a hat-trick by André Riel.
Riel is back again on Sunday, but the two new signings Jonas Henriksen and Daniel Jørgensen are both on their way back from injuries and will have to sit out the first round. Otherwise head coach Christian Lønstrup has a full squad at his disposal, with one possible exception in Adnan Mohammad, where the club is still waiting for a work permit in connection with his stay in Norway. It is still uncertain whether he will become eligible to play for the Hobro match.
