Despite being only 22 years old, left-back Frederik Bay is one of the players in the current FC Helsingør squad who has played the most matches in the light blue and white shirt. The defender will thus reach 90 official matches for the club the next time he steps onto the pitch for us.
And now the club and Frederik Bay have agreed to extend the contract that was otherwise due to expire in the summer. Both parties have thus signed a new agreement that runs until the summer of 2022.
Sporting director Brian Gellert praises the young full-back:
Despite his young age, Bay has become one of the team’s key players. He has been with us for quite a few years now, and has always been loyal to the club and shown up and told us how happy he was to be here. Young, talented left-backs are always in demand, but continuity in the first team is important to us, and we are happy that Bay has chosen us.
For Frederik Bay himself, it did not require much time to think:
I am happy at FC Helsingør, and with the whole setup around the team. We have a good team, both on and off the pitch, and the club has ambitions. I could not see any point in moving to another team when I am happy to be here. Now it’s just about making sure FC Helsingør get promoted to the NordicBet Liga.
Frederik Bay has played 89 matches and scored five goals for FC Helsingør since he came from FC Copenhagen’s youth academy in January 2017 on a loan deal that was converted into a permanent agreement in the summer of 2017.
He was named “Player of the Year” by both the club and the fan club after last season.
