On Wednesday evening, the battle was set to take place between one of Denmark’s best talent factories, FC Nordsjælland, and our brave talents from FC Helsingør’s U19 team.
A hard-fought first half ended with FC Nordsjælland in front by the score 1-0.
Head coach Morten Mundus, however, gathered Helsingør’s boys during the break, and the team came out for the second half with renewed energy and a more aggressive expression.
After a good hour of play, it resulted in an equaliser to 1-1, where Mingus Hesselholt, as we have previously seen in the tournament, again sent off a decisive shot that ended up in the net.
After that, our boys continued the good pressure and, towards the end of the match, had several chances to put themselves on course for victory, but the score held until the very end.
The match now had to be decided on penalties, and here FC Nordsjælland had the upper hand. The yellow- and red-striped side took the win, as they scored on all attempts, while Helsingør were stopped by both the crossbar and the Nordsjælland goalkeeper.
So the evening did not end as hoped, but not a finger could be pointed at either the boys’ performance or the support from the stands.
To drown out the stadium with Helsingør’s voices was without doubt instrumental in enabling the boys to deliver such a strong result!
Thank you for fantastic support, and thank you to our brave boys for taking us all the way to the final.
Forza FC Helsingør!
