The club's players can now, after 5 weeks of hard work on the training pitch, look forward to the season start when the relegated side from Vejle Boldklub comes by Helsingør Stadium tomorrow. The test matches have offered opposition from teams from the Superliga, 1. division and 2. division. In the first test match we met Superliga side Randers FC and lost 6-2. After that we met Hillerød Fodbold and Fremad Amager from the NordicBet Liga, where we drew both matches respectively 0-0 and 2-2. In the last test match we met AB and finished nicely with a 2-0 victory. With one win, two draws and one defeat the results have been somewhat mixed during a period where many players have had playing time and with many substitutions along the way in the test matches.

Our head coach Morten Eskesen says:

– Today we had our last training session and are now finished with the five-week pre-season period before tomorrow's match against Vejle. During the pre-season we have played four training matches where playing time has been distributed among the players. Unfortunately, we have had some important players out, all of whom are on their way back. Kasper Enghardt, Daniel Norouzi, Callum McCowatt and Oliver Drost have not yet been ready to get playing time, but hopefully they will soon be ready again to help the team.

We have brought in three new players to the squad, Stan is our new goalkeeper, he has come from Silkeborg. Frederik Helstrup, central defender, has come from Dutch football and returns to Danish football after 8 years in foreign football. Mathias Brems, left back, has come from OB and is a talented player who is to develop as a senior player. We are still working on bringing in new players, as we currently have lost a few more players than we have brought in. The transfer window closes 31/8 so there is still some time to secure those extra good players.

Vejle, who are visiting tomorrow, are the clear favorites to win 1. division. They have a strong squad and some financial muscle that only SønderjyskE also have. The other clubs, including ourselves, must all fight to challenge the two relegated sides. We are 100% ready to kick off tomorrow, we are in good shape and look forward to seeing all our fans in the stands again”.

FC Helsingør have had several players on trial during the pre-season. One of them – 20-year-old Mathias Brems – we have subsequently signed a contract with. The former OB player has signed a 2-year contract. We have also brought goalkeeper Stan Van Bladeren in from Superliga club Silkeborg IF and he has likewise signed a contract that runs for 2 years. In addition, we have brought defender Frederik Helstrup home from Dutch football. Helstrup has spent the last 8 years abroad and has now signed a contract until the summer of 2024.

It has been some good weeks and we look solid. We are excited and ready to go out and fight for the 3 points tomorrow

Kasper Enghardt
