Season preparations have now been underway for 4 weeks and today we played the final training match before the important season opener next Saturday against Vejle Boldklub.
The opponent in today’s match was AB, who play in 2. division. FC Helsingør quickly takes control of the match and has most of the possession. It leads to a couple of good chances for Liam Jordan, Carl Lange, Eli Just and Tonni Adamsen. AB were dangerous on set pieces and came close to taking the lead with a header after a corner kick. However, FC Helsingør continue to have most of the ball, but the 1. half ends goalless.
From the start of the 2. half, FC Helsingør tries to play faster and along the ground. The combinations flow nicely, but it does not really become dangerous in front of goal until 15 minutes into the half, when Eli Just sends Tonni Adamsen through with a fine pass. Tonni nudges the ball past an onrushing goalkeeper and brings him down in the box. Clear penalty, and Tonni Adamsen takes the penalty himself and confidently shoots the ball into the goal along the ground to make it 1-0.
For the rest of the half, FC Helsingør continue to dominate. However, we have to go to the 89. minute before another goal arrives. FC Helsingør win a free kick on the left side of AB’s half. Frederik Juul sends the cross to the back of the box, where Nicolai Geertsen rises highest and heads the ball into the net. 2-0 and that also proves to be the final score.
Next Saturday, 23 July, the 2022-2023 season in the NordicBet Liga starts, when we host Vejle Boldklub at home with kickoff at 18.30.
