At a board meeting, FC Helsingør has decided to launch football for girls under the FCH logo. Initially, this will involve girls’ teams from U13-16, but already from next season work is underway to expand with more age groups. The long-term goal is to offer football at elite level all the way up to the senior side, with a team in the 3F league as the ultimate goal.
Director Janus Kyhl is delighted with the decision:
- In recent years, a great deal of work has been done in many of FCH’s parent and partner clubs on the girls’ side, especially in Snekkersten, Espergærde and Hornbæk. There has been a strong desire from several of the clubs for the work to be brought together under FC Helsingør’s “umbrella”, while it has also been an ambition on FC Helsingør’s part that we should be able to offer girls’ football at elite level, in the same way as we do on the boys’ side. The talent development taking place on the boys’ side in FCH has taken a quantum leap in recent years, and we must build on the experience we have gained there, for the benefit of all youth players in North Zealand, girls as well as boys.
Chairman of the board Finn Moseholm also looks forward to bringing girls’ football under FC Helsingør’s wings:
- Initially, the plan is for us to build a solid foundation for girls’ football throughout the region, and to build on the impressive work that has already been done in our parent and partner clubs. They will now have the opportunity to draw on resources from each other, but also from us in the upper tier. Work to find a talent director for the girls’ division has already been initiated. Now we just need to go out and find the right person for the job. There is no doubt that girls’ and women’s football is growing at an almost explosive rate in these years, and we have had a very strong desire to support that development, and be part of it, so I am pleased that a unanimous board has set this project in motion.
