FC Helsingør met FC Fredericia this evening in the 28 round of the NordicBet Liga.
FC Helsingør came storming out of the blocks and put FC Fredericia under heavy pressure. In return, FC Fredericia were dangerous a couple of times on their counterattacks, where in particular Kristian Kirkegaard could have caused problems for FC Helsingør, as a fine combination is played down the left side. Kirkegaard gets one-on-one with FC Helsingør goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz, but the angle becomes too tight and Mielitz saves the attempt.
After just under half an hour, Tonni Adamsen receives the ball after a throw-in on the left side of FC Fredericia's penalty area. From a tight angle, Tonni smashes the ball against the near post, after which it goes back into play. Shortly before the halftime whistle, the relieving goal finally comes. Philip Rejnhold sends a pass along the ground, which a Fredericia defender fails to clear and the ball lands at the feet of Daniel Norouzi. He turns quickly and uses his left foot to place the inside of the foot and sends the ball in a soft arc into the far corner of the goal. 1-0 to FC Helsingør and that is the score we go into halftime with.
At the start of the 2 half, play swings back and forth a bit. Both teams have a couple of fine long-range attempts from distance. After 50 minutes of play, Philip Rejnhold has to go off after a long-range effort and Mikkel Knudsen comes on instead. A minute later the ball ends up somewhat randomly with Fredericia player Oliver Olsen, who shoots with his right foot and the ball goes in for the score 1-1. After the equalizer, neither team really gains the upper hand. It turns into a few isolated attempts from both teams, though without it becoming really dangerous. In contrast, it becomes really dangerous in the 58th minute, when Nicolai Geertsen acrobatically sends an overhead kick towards the Fredericia goal on a headed assist from Daniel Norouzi.
The Fredericia goalkeeper saves impressively and gets the ball pushed away via the post. After that, several chances come for FC Helsingør, including a long-range shot from Callum McCowatt and a fine header from Tonni Adamsen. Both attempts are superbly saved by the Fredericia goalkeeper. After just over an hour, FC Helsingør replace Oliver Kjærgaard and Oliver Drost with Callum McCowatt and Kristoffer Munksgaard. This helps put greater pressure on the FC Fredericia defense. In the 66th minute, FC Fredericia can no longer hold out. A cross into the box is controlled well by Tonni Adamsen and he smashes the ball toward goal. Once again, the Fredericia goalkeeper produces a fine save, but the rebound falls to Eli Just, who sends the ball into the net for 2-1 to FC Helsingør.
After the goal, it is as if FC Fredericia take over the control of play and establish pressure on the FC Helsingør goal. In the 82th minute, FC Helsingør make a double substitution and off go Tonni Adamsen and Eli Just, with Alexander Lyng and Nicolaj Hansen coming on. FC Fredericia continue to apply pressure, but it does not lead to the really big chances and therefore the match ends with a 2-1 victory for FC Helsingør.
FC Helsingør now occupy 2th place in the NordicBet Liga, only surpassed by AC Horsens, who have 2 more points than FC Helsingør.
It is precisely AC Horsens who are FC Helsingør's next opponents, when the two top teams meet in Horsens on Friday, 13 May at 19.00 at CASA Arena in Horsens.
