FC Helsingør lost the away match against Fremad Amager by 2-0, and despite some big chances, it could not be said to be undeserved. Before the match the two fan groups met for a joint fan fest with music and draft beer, but once the match was blown off, the hospitality was over.
The match started at a furious pace, but neither team came close to anything major in the first minutes, apart from a number of physical duels. But after six minutes, things went wrong for FCH. A sharp cross from the left side was turned into a corner kick. It went to former FC Helsingør player Pierre Larsen, and he struck it sharply to the back post. After a bit of scrappy play, Fremad Amager’s Lukas Engel got a touch, and guided the ball into the net a small meter from the line.
1-0 Fremad Amager
It took another six minutes before FCH got its first big chance. A fine ball reached the right side, and was played sharply in to Carl Lange. He went straight toward goal, and was very close to being able to guide the ball in, but he lacked the final sharpness and the ball flew past the post. A big chance for Lange, who probably should have scored.
After just over a quarter of an hour Patrick Olsen went into a duel with Iyede just outside the FCH box. The referee judged both the free kick and the yellow card rather harshly. Valon Ljuti went for the ball, and struck it well, but his free kick went straight into Viktor Anker’s arms.
After 28 minutes the home side was close again. Iyede escaped in the box after being set up by Pierre Larsen, but Viktor Anker came down well to the finish toward the far corner, and held the ball securely in his arms.
When 35 minutes had been played, Iyede got through again on the right side. He beat his marker, and calmly laid the ball across the small box to an onrushing Pierre Larsen. It was with great difficulty that Pascal Gergor got a saving foot to it, otherwise there would definitely have been a goal. FC Helsingør was under pressure in this phase.
FC Helsingør tried to put pressure on the home side, but as a rule stood too far from their opponents, and were too slow in build-up play. Thus the teams could go into the dressing room with a 1-0 lead for the home side.
The second half started with a huge chance for FCH. Patrick Olsen played a long cross-field pass. A Fremad player got highest, but the ball dropped down to Anders Holst, who found Carl Lange in behind. He was free in the box, but the ball was just half a meter too far away from him, and when he finally got a toe to the ball toward goal, Nicklas Dannevang in the Amager goal had come out and could block the shot.
Shortly after, Matheus got a big chance when a ball rather luckily dropped down to his feet in the box. But his shot was blocked by a defender. A good start to the half by FC Helsingør.
FC Helsingør linked the passes together a little better, and hovered a little more around Fremad Amager’s goal, but they had difficulty making it really dangerous.
Instead, after 65 minutes of play it was the home side that went up 2-0. Samson Iyede had played a really good match in Fremad Amager’s attack, and he received the ball on the right side of the box. He was actually covered, but he cheekily lobbed the ball in a soft arc over both defender and goalkeeper, and for the FC Helsingør players time stood still as the ball sailed toward the far corner. Unfortunately for the visitors, it hit the inside of the post and went in.
2-0 Fremad Amager.
After the goal, it was the home side that took control. Both Pierre Larsen and Samson Iyede had opportunities, but further goals were prevented at the last moment by a fine FC Helsingør central defense.
We had to get all the way to the 83th minute before FCH had the next big chance. Substitute Douglas found substitute Nicolas Mortensen, who played the ball out to Carl Lange on the left side, and the young winger delivered a sharp cross to Matheus, who got up well to the ball and headed toward the far corner. Unfortunately the ball had a little too much power and went over. But a good build-up by FC Helsingør.
Two minutes later Patrick Olsen went into a duel with Mads Gabel. The two came to blows, and the referee judged it as a yellow card to each. Unfortunately, Patrick also had a yellow card from the first half, and he thus turned the caution into a red card, and had to head for the showers a little less than ten minutes before his teammates.
A minute into stoppage time Nicolas Mortensen found substitute Sebastian Elvang, who suddenly stood completely free on the right side of Fremad Amager’s box. The midfielder shot firmly, but his shot flew past the post on the wrong side. Huge chance for FCH in the dying minutes.
Samson Iyede had a breakaway shortly after, but chose to use the time to let the seconds tick away instead. FC Helsingør thus had to admit that they once again failed to win away from home, and suffered a deserved defeat on Amager.
