Wednesday evening FC Helsingør hosted Lyngby BK at home at Helsingør Stadion. Important points were at stake in the hunt for promotion to the Superliga. The local derby between the 2 clubs usually attracts many spectators to the stadium, and this Wednesday was no exception. A full 2923 spectators were present at Helsingør Stadion and both teams' fans created a great atmosphere and backdrop for the players.

After just 2 minutes of play, the first goal came when FC Helsingør lost the ball in midfield. The ball was played out to Casper Jørgensen on the right side and he sent a low cross diagonally back into the box, where Rasmus Thellufsen appeared and side-footed the ball along the ground into the far side of the goal. A shock start by Lyngby and 0-1 after only 2 minutes of play.

After the goal, FC Helsingør tried to press high. They succeeded in winning many balls, but without really becoming dangerous in front of the Lyngby goal. FC Helsingør had most of the possession and continued the high press. However, they did not create any big chances until the 44th minute, when a corner was cleared by the Lyngby defense. The ball ended up on the right side with Frederik Juul, who sent a precise cross into the box and Nicolai Geertsen rose above everyone and headed the ball down into the left corner of the goal for an equalizer to 1-1 shortly before halftime. We went into the break with the score at 1-1.

In the 2 half Lyngby came out the better side and Emil Nielsen had a huge chance after 50 minutes. Lyngby combined neatly in the FC Helsingør box and suddenly Emil Nielsen was completely free. He got a shot away with the inside of his foot, but goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz produced an excellent save. In the 66th minute it was no longer to be denied. A cross from the left side, close in under goal, was deflected and Rasmus Thellufsen scored for the second time in the match and put Lyngby ahead 1-2. The next chance went to FC Helsingør, as Tonni Adamsen received the ball outside the box on the left side. He took a touch and set it up for his left foot. The shot hit the crossbar and went for a goal kick. In the final minutes Nicolai Geertsen was pushed forward into attack in the hope of putting even more pressure on the Lyngby defense. In the 89th minute a long ball was sent toward the Lyngby box, where Nicolai Geertsen won the header and laid the ball off for substitute Kristoffer Munksgaard. He took a fine touch and got a shot away on goal, but the Lyngby goalkeeper saved it.

The match at Helsingør Stadion ends in a win for Lyngby BK by 1-2 and FC Helsingør's Superliga dreams take a knock.

The importance of the top clash drew a lot of spectators from both FC Helsingør and Lyngby. This Wednesday a stadium record was set with 2923 spectators, which is the highest number of visitors since the stadium was put into use back in August 2019.
