FC Helsingør made the trip to Monjasa Park today to face FC Fredericia in NordicBet Liga round no. 25.
From the start of the match, FC Helsingør took control of the game and had most of the possession. However, FC Fredericia were dangerous on the counterattack. FC Helsingør came close to a huge chance after just 20 minutes, when Kristoffer Munksgaard got in behind. He tried to round the goalkeeper, but the goalkeeper got hold of the ball. A couple of minutes later, Munksgaard got the ball on the left side of the penalty area.
He took a touch, shot low and hard toward the far corner, but it went narrowly wide.After just over half an hour, FC Fredericia got their first big chance when Nicolai Geertsen gave the ball away on his own half. The FC Fredericia player struck it decisively, but the ball went wide. Shortly after, in the 36th minute, the home side combined well and after some scrappy play in the box, the ball fell to Kristian Kirkegaard, who safely fired the ball into the net for 1-0.
After that, FC Fredericia took control of the game and came close a number of times. In the 43th minute, it became 2-0 after some fine Fredericia combinations in the Helsingør box. Nikolaj Ritter suddenly found himself completely free and shot the ball into the net. We went into halftime with the score at 2-0.2. The second half started a bit disjointed, with neither team managing to settle into the game. FC Helsingør were aggressive and tried to apply high pressure.
FC Fredericia, at the other end, remained dangerous on their transitions. There were a couple of good long-range efforts at both ends, but both attempts were saved. In the 63th minute, Eli Just received the ball on the right side. He took a touch inside and sent a curling shot toward the far corner. But a fine save by FC Fredericia's goalkeeper. A minute later, Kristian Kirkegaard did harm to FC Helsingør when he scored on yet another counterattack from the edge of the box to make it 3-0.
From there, FC Fredericia were in full control and FC Helsingør had completely stalled. In the 69th minute, it became 4-0 after some nice FC Fredericia play on the right side. The cross came in low into the box and Patrick Egelund appeared there to finish with the inside of his foot.
