Today FC Helsingør played the first match in the promotion round, as AC Horsens visited Helsingør Stadion. AC Horsens got off to the best start and already in the 2th minute the visitors got their first chance.
And what a one – a cross lands right at the feet of a Horsens player inside the small box, but the shot goes far over the goal.

FC Helsingør then came more into possession and created some chances. Daniel Norouzi had a fine shot from outside the box, which went just wide. A couple of minutes later Eli Just drove the ball forward and after a one-two with Kristoffer Munksgaard, Eli Just tried a shot. The shot was weak and the goalkeeper could easily save it. After half an hour of play, a Horsens player was played through with a fine pass and was completely free. Goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz, however, made a fine save on the one-on-one against the Horsens player. Horsens continued to create chances and in the last minute before the break a cross was nicely headed toward goal.

Again Mielitz was in place and made a fine save on the header. We went into the break with 0-0 on the scoreboard.

The 2nd half began with a huge chance for FC Helsingør. Eli Just received the ball and was completely free in the box. Unfortunately he shot straight at the goalkeeper and it remained 0-0.

After that the game went back and forth and neither team really gained the upper hand. After an hour of play, the match’s turning point came when a Horsens player sent a long ball forward. Goalkeeper Sebastian Mielitz came out of the goal, where the ball took a bounce and the Horsens player just managed to nick it before he crashed into Mielitz.

The referee chose to award a penalty and show Mielitz the red card. A harsh decision, as the collision seemed accidental and without intent from Mielitz. Hjalte Petersen came on in goal, but could do nothing about the penalty, which was safely converted for 0-1 lead to AC Horsens.

Despite FC Helsingør being only 10 men on the pitch, they continued to create chances. 20 minutes from time, Kasper Enghardt received a ball in the box and shot at goal, the ball was deflected and ended up at the feet of substitute Carl Lange, who shot low into the near corner. Unfortunately the ball hit the side netting, although many thought it was in the goal.

FC Helsingør are now pushing forward and that means Horsens are dangerous on the counterattacks. In the 76th minute Nicklas Mouritzen did not get the ball far enough away and a Horsens player could collect it and shoot at goal. However, the shot went wide.

At the end of the match FC Helsingør took the risk and sent Nicolaj Gertsen forward in attack and sent long balls into the Horsens box. It was almost rewarded when a long ball was headed on by Gertsen and straight down in front of Carl Lange. Slightly off balance, Carl Lange managed to get a shot away but the ball was shot over the goal. Despite there being 8 minutes of stoppage time, FC Helsingør did not manage to create more chances and therefore the match ended with a 0-1 win for AC Horsens. Tomorrow the team plays a reserve team match against FC København at their training ground at 12.30.

FC Helsingør’s next match is away on Saturday the 9. April at 15.00, where the team will travel to Nykøbing FC.
