Today FC Helsingør went to Lyngby to face Lyngby BK in a true top clash. Lyngby had put everything into breaking the attendance record and they succeeded, as 5.259 spectators had made their way to Lyngby Stadion. The game got underway from the start and there was a good fight from both sides.
FC Helsingør, however, got off to the best start and had the most possession. But that did not lead to many chances despite plenty of possession. Lyngby were dangerous in their counterattacking play the whole time and after 19 minutes of play Adam Sørensen can break away on the left side and send a hard low cross into the box. The ball hits Nicklas Mouritzen and goes in and Lyngby are ahead 1-0.
FC Helsingør continue to dominate possession and after 25 minutes of play, Elijah Just gets up to speed and plays the ball through to Tonni Adamsen, but the shot is straight at the goalkeeper. Lyngby also get a couple of chances, including one from Emil Nielsen. Nothing more happens in the 1. half and we go into halftime with Lyngby BK leading 1-0.
FC Helsingør also come out best in the 2. half and after an hour of play, Tonni Adamsen receives the ball down by Lyngby's end line on the right side. He takes a couple of touches back into the field and plays a one-two with Elijah Just to receive the ball on the edge of the box. With a composed inside-foot finish, he sends the ball into the net close to the post and it is 1-1 on the scoreboard.
After the equalizer, FC Helsingør go all out for the win and in the 65. minute, a cross is played by Philip Rejnholdt and in to a completely free Tonni Adamsen, who heads the ball narrowly past the Lyngby goal. The minute after, Frederik Juul receives the ball in the middle of Lyngby's half. He takes a touch and sends a fine shot toward the far corner. However, the Lyngby goalkeeper makes a good save and tips the ball over the goal for a corner. The match is played at a frantic pace and it was an entertaining game. In the last 10 minutes, however, it seems as if FC Helsingør have run out of energy.
Lyngby BK take over the game and put FC Helsingør under pressure. In the dying minutes of the game and well into stoppage time, Emil Nielsen receives the ball in the box and he shoots the ball hard and low into the opposite corner. There is no more action in the final minutes of stoppage time and the match ends 2-1 to Lyngby BK.
FC Helsingør play their next NordicBet Liga match on Friday the 6. May at 19.00, when FC Fredericia come to visit Helsingør Stadion.
