FC Helsingør has signed contracts with two young players from New Zealand. 19-year-old Elijah Just and 20-year-old Dalton Wilkins join FC Helsingør with effect from the first of July.
Elijah Just is a winger and can play on both flanks. Dalton Wilkins is a left-back, but can also play centrally.
Elijah Just is looking forward to putting on the FCH shirt.
– I have got a very positive impression of the club. There is a long-term plan, and a new beautiful stadium to play at next year. I really look forward to getting started in earnest.
The same goes for Dalton Wilkins.
– We have now been in Denmark for a while, and it has been very positive. People are incredibly nice up here. I don't think I have met a single person who has not been friendly and welcoming. The people at the club, and the other players, have welcomed us enormously well. We have already learned the first Danish words such as “tak” and of course some football terms such as “ryg” and “alene”.
Director Janus Kyhl sees fine prospects in the two young players
– Both Dalton and “Eli”, as he is simply called, are hard-working players who can run all day. They are both creative, modern players who are very versatile. Eli can play all the positions across the middle, and Dalton is a modern wing-back who masters the flank just as well, and who can also play in central defense. They are both players whom I expect to be in contention for our first team already next season.
The two players will be tested at the highest level before long. Immediately after the contracts were signed, the two players rushed out the door to join New Zealand's U20 national team squad, which begins the group stage at the U20 World Championship in Poland on 24 May.
