FC Helsingør has signed a contract until the summer with the Estonian midfielder Mihkel Ainsalu.

24-year-old Mihkel Ainsalu has most recently been under contract in the top Ukrainian league with PFK Lviv, and arrives as a free agent, which is why we can sign him outside the transfer window.

Ainsalu has primarily played in his home country Estonia, where he has played over 120 matches for one of Estonia's biggest teams, Flora Talinn, with whom he has won four championships and played Champions League qualification.

Mihkel Ainsalu has been training with the FCH squad for about a week, and is happy to be joining the squad
– The coaches were interested in me, and I think the level here is good. It is a squad with many young, talented players and those I have asked said that FC Helsingør is a club that wants to play good football. I see it as a good challenge, and a good place to develop myself.

Sporting director Brian Gellert says about Ainsalu:
– Mihkel has shown a high level in training, and seems like a really good and very professional player. Overall, we are very satisfied with our squad, but precisely the central midfield, where Mihkel plays, is one of the places where we felt we maybe lacked a bit of depth. We are getting a skilled box-to-box player, who can also play defensive midfield, so he fit the profile perfectly. We have good, young players who in time are knocking on the door for the spot, but right now we would like to bring in a player who could strengthen us immediately, as we have to play all 14 important matches in a very short time, in a very compressed fixture schedule. So when the opportunity arose to get a player of this caliber, we took it.

Mihkel Ainsalu will wear number 42 at FC Helsingør.
