15-year-old Hjalte Lærke is the newest player under contract at FC Helsingør.
Hjalte has previously played for FA2000, but joined FC Helsingør’s talent academy less than six months ago. In a short time he has impressed with his individual quality and overview on the pitch as well as his dedication off it. Hjalte continues his daily life in Copenhagen, where he lives and goes to school, so besides the hours on the training pitch he also spends a significant amount of time on transport in order to pursue his dream in Helsingør, which shows a strong will to reach his goal.
The first step on the way is now a reality with the signing of his first contract, and there was indeed an incredibly happy and proud young man who put pen to paper.
“I am very happy! When I found out that the club wanted to offer a contract, I must admit that I had trouble sleeping the first few nights. I was now even closer to the dream of becoming a professional footballer. It’s indescribable, even though I know it is hopefully only the first step on the way.”
Hjalte’s quality is also impossible to miss. The midfield talent plays almost every minute for FC Helsingør’s U17 team, and beyond his dribbling skills it also means a lot to him to be able to set up his teammates with deep balls from his preferred 8’er or 10’er position.
“Even though I’m not the captain, I always try to lead the way and help my teammates wherever I can. Whether that’s on the pitch or in the dressing room. We are a team and not just 11 players.”
Hjalte continues to feature for the club’s U17 team, and we follow his development closely and of course hope to see him step into the first team over the coming years.
