He was the double goalscorer in Wednesday’s 2-2 match against Esbjerg, but even before the excellent performance Oliver Kjærgaard had put pen to paper on a contract extension with FC Helsingør, which ties him to the club until the summer of 2022.

Sports director Brian Gellert highlights Kjærgaard’s professionalism:
– Oliver, like many of our other young players, has taken huge steps in a short time. It is a pleasure that he has extended his agreement with us. Oliver is highly professional and dedicated, and over the past half year he has been a major part of us now being a top-16 team in Denmark, with important goals and assists. It is entirely Oliver’s own merit that he has earned an extension. He has worked incredibly hard and professionally with both his football and his physical condition, and in that way he is a role model for the young people in Helsingør and the surrounding area. If you want something with your football, you can look at an Oliver Kjærgaard to see how it should be done.

Kjærgaard himself is looking forward to adding even more next season:
– I had a bit of a tough time in Norway (Kjærgaard played two years in Tromsø before returning home to DK), but coming home to Helsingør has given me back my joy of playing. It has been great to have that revived. I am happy with the cooperation between the coaches, the sporting management and me over the past few years, and I especially look back on this season with great joy. It has been wonderful to play the kind of football I want to play. I want to keep developing as I think I have done, and get better from game to game. Going forward, I need to build confidence and become even better at delivering goals and assists, as well as being decisive in matches. That is the big goal for next year, and it will be exciting to start up for next season.

Oliver Kjærgaard has played 35 matches for FC Helsingør, with seven goals and four assists
