This evening FC Helsingør faced Nykøbing FC in the spring opener in the NordicBet Liga, where Nykøbing FC visited Helsingør Stadion.
At the start of the match the teams had to get a feel for each other, but after just 10 minutes FC Helsingør began to take control of the game. After 16 minutes of play Philip Rejnhold receives the ball on the right side outside the box. He takes a touch inside and drives the ball hard and controlled into the far corner. 1-0 to FC Helsingør and a superb goal by Philip.
From here there were plenty of chances for FC Helsingør. Tonni Adamsen had a good low shot in the 20th minute, which the Nykøbing goalkeeper got a hand to, after which the ball hit the post. Good save by the goalkeeper and a good action by Tonni. In the 23th minute Nicolai Geertsen had a fine header from a corner, which the Nykøbing goalkeeper splendidly saved. The 1nd half nevertheless ended without further goals and we went into the break with the score 1-0.
In the 2th half, Nykøbing FC came out strongly and were dangerous through a header from Mathias Kristensen, but fortunately the header bounced off the crossbar. FC Helsingør found themselves again and took over the game. In the 60th minute captain Nikolaj Hansen had gone forward and tried a shot from outside the box, which unfortunately hit the crossbar. Shortly after, Kristoffer Munksgaard broke through and shot hard and low along the ground, but unfortunately just wide of the post and still 1-0 to FC Helsingør.
Head coach Morten Eskesen replaced Tonni Adamsen and Kristoffer Munksgaard with Alexander Lyng and Oliver Drost. Both made fine cameos and worked well offensively. Deep into stoppage time, Oliver Drost received the ball after good work by Alexander Lyng, he got the ball just outside the box and with a single touch he entered the box and played Drost completely free, who then easily shot the ball into the net along the ground for 2-0, which also became the final result.
FC Helsingør thus still tops the table, regardless of the other results in the weekend’s matches.
Next Friday, on the 4. March, we have another home game when AC Horsens visit Helsingør Stadion. The match kicks off at 19.00.
