FC Helsingør has signed a two-year contract with the 18-year-old goalkeeper Christoffer Monty, who joins on a free transfer from FC Copenhagen. Christoffer Monty has most recently been in goal for FCK’s U19 side.

The young goalkeeper is looking forward to the challenge:
– I had some good talks with Matt (Barnes, ed.), and I think it seems like a really exciting project they have going on up here. There is an ambition level that matches my own, and I think it is the right step for my development. I have a goal that I should make a difference up here and achieve some results, and hopefully get some playing time.

As a goalkeeper my strengths are as a shot-stopper, and I am good in the air and in the box. I am working on improving my game with my feet, and I have improved a lot in that area over the past few years, but it is one of my focal points. It will be exciting to get started.

Goalkeeper coach Kim Drejs looks forward to working with Monty
– Christoffer is a good and talented goalkeeper who has pretty much everything. He is big, is a good shot-stopper, fine with his feet and sort of an “all-rounder”. Monty will be part of the goalkeeping team on equal footing with the others, and we have it this way that the best goalkeeper plays, regardless of whether he is 18 or however old he may be. He comes from a good school in FC Copenhagen, and is a talented player whom I expect a lot from.
