FC Helsingør has signed defender and midfielder Nikolaj Hansen, who joins on a free transfer after playing for Næstved’s successful promotion-winning team in last season’s NordicBet Liga. Nikolaj Hansen arrives in Helsingør with more than 200 matches in the Danish divisions behind him, the majority for Roskilde FC.
Nikolaj Hansen is looking forward to the challenge:
– FC Helsingør was by far the most interesting option of the clubs that were interested. There were clubs from both the first and second divisions that made offers, but FC Helsingør has a good mix of seriousness and ambition. In addition, they have good facilities and some skilled players, so it was the offer that made the most sense for me.
– I bring a lot of experience, some work ethic and a humble approach to football, I think. In FC Helsingør’s case, I also bring an understanding of what it takes to compete for promotion from second to first division from the “front”, so to speak, since it is something I have done before. It’s not as easy as one might think, so I hope I can contribute a lot.
Head scout Brian Gellert is delighted with the signing:
– Nikolaj comes straight from a season where he was close to helping a promotion winner in the NordicBet Liga move up to the Superliga. We see it as a scoop that a profile in the first division chooses to look our way. He stands for many of the values we emphasise, and is a 100% team player, the kind of player we want on our team. With the additions of Nikolaj and Ricki Olsen, we are getting the base in place with routine and experience, which means we can now start adding the young talents we also want on the team.
