FC Helsingør continues to strengthen the squad ahead of the upcoming season, and are pleased to present the experienced attacking profile David Boysen as the newest man in the FCH shirt. 29-year-old Boysen comes to FC Helsingør on a free transfer, after having played in Israel over the past year, most recently at Hapoel Nof Hagalil.

David Boysen is an experienced and well-travelled man, who in Denmark is probably best known for his time at Lyngby BK, for whom the winger has played 159 matches, with 41 goals and 29 assists to his name. Boysen has played for Lyngby in both the Superliga and the NordicBet Liga. David Boysen has furthermore twice been named the player of the year in the NordicBet Liga, most recently in 2015.

David Boysen had a few words to say about the thoughts he had made about FC Helsingør:
– First and foremost, I felt a good interest from the club, and from the moment we started talking it has gone quite quickly. I was convinced by the professionalism in the setup, and after a challenging period, I needed to be part of a positive project. I wanted to go home to Denmark, and Zealand, and the project up here and my ambitions fit really well together in that way.

– I have spoken quite a lot with Brian Gellert, and with the sporting staff, and over the next couple of weeks we need to clarify my role, which can be both in attack, where I have played over the past couple of years, and as a winger, where people in Denmark probably know me best. I have kept myself physically active, so I am already in good shape. I feel ready to deliver goals and assists, but beyond that I also need to contribute to the squad with my experience from the 1 Division. I know the league, I know what kind of football is played, and I think it is important to have players who know what it takes in the league.

– I was attracted to becoming part of an ambitious club that has a plan that is heading toward something real, and if it goes as the club and I hope, it can hopefully lead to a slightly longer stay. I really just want to get out and play football, and if FC Helsingør and I can have success together, I see no reason why my stay here could not continue going forward.

Sporting director Brian Gellert is delighted with the signing:
– We have had many talks with David, and what was decisive for us was that we could sense a great hunger in him to get out and show what he can do. He is a major profile, who at his top level is one of the best players in the NordicBet Liga, and who could also do well at a higher level than that. He has many individual qualities, and is a player who can decide football matches on his own.

– In Helsingør we have never been afraid to give people a chance, and we have often proven before that we are a place where players can find peace to find the best version of themselves. And in this situation, David has also given us a chance to show what we can do. I am completely sure that David will become a major profile for us.

David Boysen can play most of the attacking positions, and besides Lyngby has also played for AB, Viborg and Brøndby in Denmark, as well as had spells at clubs in the Netherlands, Sweden and Israel.

Boysen has his first training day on Monday, and is therefore not in the squad for Sunday's friendly against Nykøbing.
