At Helsingør Municipality’s big annual Sports Gala, FC Helsingør was honored both for the Superliga team’s achievements over the past year, and for the great development the youth department has undergone.

The day got off to a strong start when FC Helsingør was honored as the “Club of the Year” on the youth side, for the rapid development the youth department has undergone. The awards committee highlighted, among other things, that they have gone from T- to B-license at the U17 team, and that they have managed to create a training environment with participating clubs and players from all over North Zealand with a very high professional level. Talent manager Marc Thevis, and T+ coach and Top Center manager René Lybek received the award with pride, and immediately passed the thanks on to the many people in the club who put in a great deal of work every day to optimize youth training, and strive for new heights.

In the evening, the awards were presented on the senior side, and the award for “Coach of the Year” went to FC Helsingør’s coaching duo Christian Lønstrup and Brian Gellert, for their great work with the first team, and the surprising promotion to the Alka Superliga.

The award for “Sports Performance of the Year” also went to FC Helsingør, and both the coaching staff as well as goalkeeper Mikkel Bruhn and captain Andreas Holm were on stage to receive the prestigious honor from mayor Benedikte Kiær. Andreas Holm then presented the guests with FC Helsingør’s victory chant, much to the delight of the more than 300 attendees.

“Oh Aluelle….”

Both the coaching staff and Andreas Holm passed on a large part of the thanks for the honor to the staff around the club, and not least the many volunteers, whose great work is the foundation that has made it possible for FC Helsingør to compete at the highest level.
