Defender Philip Rejnhold has impressed in the FCH shirt since he joined FC Helsingør on a free transfer during the summer break, including several Man of the Match awards in the first matches. The club has now chosen to reward that with a contract extension, which Philip has accepted.

Sports director Brian Gellert is pleased that the extension is in place:
– We knew Philip’s qualities, and he has impressed since joining the club. We are pleased that we read him right. He is a player who fits perfectly into our group and our environment. He is a really good guy with a professional attitude, and we look forward to continuing to work with him. Initially we only signed him for one year, but it quickly became clear that he was a player we wanted to build on over a longer period. So we have added two years to the contract that ran until the summer. In our view he is already one of the best defenders in the 1. Division, if not the best, and he has huge potential.

For Philip Rejnhold himself, there was not much to think about
– I’m really happy to be in Helsingør. I’m happy when I get up in the morning, and happy when I go to training. I have good teammates and good coaches, so it went reasonably quickly from when we started talking about an extension until it was in place. It’s probably the most professional setup I’ve been in, and it’s great that you can mainly just go to work and focus on playing football.

– I came here to play, and when I got the chance fairly quickly, after Dalton (Wilkins, ed.) had to come off in the first match, I’ve basically played regularly. I’ve also played in an unusual role at centre-back because of injuries and suspensions, and that has been both exciting and challenging. I’m not the tallest player in the world, and normally centre-backs are quite a bit bigger, but then I have some other qualities I can use in the position.

– I’m also sure the team can develop even more. In the first instance, the goal is for us to establish ourselves in the First Division. But in the longer term I clearly have a goal of playing in the Superliga at some point, and I think most of the squad do too. But if we have a season where everything clicks, I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to get promoted.
