FC Helsingør and midfielder Oliver Kjærgaard have extended their agreement by another season. FCH brought in the young central midfielder on a short contract just before the Coronavirus shut down the country and football.

22-year-old Kjærgaard joined on a free transfer when his contract with Norwegian Tromsø expired.

Kjærgaard feels comfortable in Helsingør, and is happy to continue:
– We have a really good team spirit in the squad, while at the same time we have built a good winning mentality. I feel that FCH is exactly the right place for me to develop. I can feel that I have moved on, both as a person and as a footballer, and I have been very happy that FC Helsingør gave me the chance. I feel that I get better with every minute I play, and I have gained more confidence. I think you could also see that, especially in the last couple of matches. I am very much looking forward to testing myself in the NordicBet League, where we know that we have to be completely on our toes in every match. It will be a challenge, but also very exciting.

Sporting director Brian Gellert is happy to get Kjærgaard's signature:
– It went as we had hoped and planned with Oliver. He has shown what he is made of, and added to it all the way through. When we returned in early summer, Oliver managed to play five matches in the promotion play-off in 2. Division, and has in general impressed both the coaching staff and teammates with his work ethic, his determination and his footballing ability. We have now chosen to reward that with a contract extension, which is thoroughly deserved.

Oliver Kjærgaard was originally developed at Lyngby, and has played 13 youth internationals for the U18, U19 and U20 national teams.
