Tonight's cup tie against Lyngby BK kicked off a couple of minutes late due to a short celebration of head coach Morten Eskesen and assistant coach Mikkel Thygesen. They were in charge of FC Helsingør tonight for the 100 time both of them. Congratulations to them.
FC Helsingør got off to the better start and striker Oliver Drost needed only a few minutes before he found himself completely free on the way toward the Lyngby keeper's goal. Unfortunately, the angle was a bit too tight and the ball was blocked.
Afterwards, Lyngby pressed on and were dangerous in several situations, but it remained blocked efforts and one shot just wide of the post before the referee blew for a water break after just over 23 minutes of play.
The rest of the 1nd half did not offer many big chances apart from a single well-placed cross from Mikkel Knudsen, but unfortunately there was no one to meet the ball in the six-yard box.
Nicolai Geertsen, who played a strong game in Helsingør's back line, received the match's third yellow card before the referee blew for halftime.
After the break, it was clearly FC Helsingør who came best out of the dressing room. Callum McCowatt needed just 2 minutes before the ball was in the net for Lyngby and the score was thus 1-0.
After that, FC Helsingør began to impose themselves on the match. Good actions up front from Oliver Drost helped keep the ball at Helsingør's feet and at the same time goalkeeper – and man of the match – Sayouba Mandé really stepped up for the light blue shirts. Several good saves were in the 61th minute topped with a fantastic save on a 100 percent chance where Lyngby's striker is played completely free inside the box. But Mandé kept Helsingør at 1-0
Shortly after, Lyngby are awarded a free kick on the edge of the box, but the shot goes into the wall and hits Callum McCowatt прямо in the face and he has to receive treatment on the pitch.
A few minutes later he was replaced by debutant Sterling Yatéké.
After a good work rate, Oliver Drost was also substituted in favor of the red-hot Alexander Lyng. This was again to prove a wise decision from the coaching bench.
5 minutes were needed before Lyng managed to win the ball back strongly up near Lyngby's box, he takes a touch inside and then sends the ball straight into the net for the third match in a row to make it 2-0.
In the closing stages, the tempo drops. However, Alexander Lyng is brought down, but the advantage rule is allowed to stand, sending Sterling Yatéké away alone toward the opposition goal.
Unfortunately, he overhits the shot completely and it ends with a goal kick.
Lyngby meanwhile record the match's fifth and final caution.
