FC Helsingør continues the upgrading of its talent work, and is now expanding the staff around the talents with yet another profile. Thomas Slosarich, commonly just called “Slos,” is from 1/8 employed in the position of talent manager. Slosarich comes to FC Helsingør from a similar position at FC Roskilde.
The new talent manager is looking forward to getting started:
d- I think it is a really exciting project you have going on up here. As soon as it became clear that I was going to stop in Roskilde, I received an inquiry from Janus (Kyhl, ed.), and then it went quite quickly from a “feeler” to us having a good talk, and then it developed from there. As I said, it was a really exciting project he presented, and there are some opportunities up here to make football even more visible in the local area, and I am to be the catalyst for that.
We must develop all the talented players we have up here as optimally as we can, within the framework we have available. The goal must be to build an environment where all the talented players from the surrounding area naturally seek to come, and where we can develop them optimally. We must have a goal that the good players up here can look at us and see that they can play at just as high a level here as elsewhere, so they have no reason to move elsewhere. Once in a while, some of the very best will move to clubs at the absolute top level, but if you treat people properly, some of them will also return home again with some experience in their backpacks, to everyone's benefit.
I will be looking at many things, but one of the more important tasks will be to optimize cooperation with parent and partner clubs, and to ensure that we pull in the same direction and that both they and we can inspire each other to an even better collaboration. In addition, I must make sure that our youth coaches keep “their noses on the trail,” so that we work toward the same goals and think about the long-term perspective. It is easy to get caught up in a one-dimensional focus on “just” winning the next match on Sunday, even though that is of course also important, but it is more important that we keep our focus on developing players who in the longer term can knock on the door of either our first team, or the first team of other division clubs.”
Thomas Slosarich has worked for ten years with talent development under the DBU umbrella, has played first-team football for Hvidovre and KB, and has spent the last year as talent manager at FC Roskilde. He is additionally educated at the highest coaching level, the so-called P-coach license.
