It was almost the perfect start to the season for FC Helsingør in the NordicBet League season 21/22, as Fremad Amager were beaten Friday evening by a Tonni Adamsen goal, which turned out to be enough all the way home.

FC Helsingør started the match best. For most of the match FCH looked more cohesive, but Fremad Amager’s many exotic profiles also gave a number of tests of their individual qualities.

Six minutes into the match FC Helsingør had their first chance. Oliver Drost cut in from the left side and fired at goal. His shot was blocked, however, and Jacob Pryts in the Fremad Amager goal could calmly gather the ball.

After 12 minutes Liam Jordan drove up through the middle and played an excellent through ball to Tonni Adamsen, who entered the box with the ball. Adamsen took a touch and his marker stuck out a foot and hit Adamsen in stride. Adamsen went to the ground, but the referee waved play on.

Three minutes later FCH swarmed around Fremad Amager’s goal. A high ball forward was won by Nikolaj Hansen, who smartly turned with the ball and got free of his opponent on the left side. Hansen delivered a good cross across the box, and centrally Oliver Drost rose highest, but the ball just narrowly passed Drost’s forehead and the goal had to wait.

It took until the 22th minute before Fremad Amager had their first big chance. El Younossi sent a low cross across the box to Kristoffer Munksgaard, but Munksgaard didn’t make proper contact with the ball and Kevin Stuhr saved safely. Shortly after, Oliver Drost had to leave his FC Helsingør debut injured after only 26 minutes of play. He was replaced by Sebastian Czajkowski.

But right after the half-hour mark the breakthrough came for FC Helsingør. Returning Kasper Enghardt had the ball centrally on the pitch and played a good one-two with Liam Jordan, then laid the ball forward to Tonni Adamsen, who made the run at exactly the right time. Adamsen cut into the box, waited for Pryts to make his move, and then lofted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. An excellent goal, and excellent build-up play.
1-0 FC Helsingør

In the 40th minute Liam Jordan won a free kick just outside the box on the right side. Frederik Juul sent it into the small area, where Kasper Enghardt rose highest. Unfortunately the big center-back could not get the ball down, and it sailed over the crossbar. Big chance for FCH.

The teams could then go into halftime with a narrow but deserved lead for the home side. Fremad Amager had shown good individual play in several sequences, but it was FC Helsingør who had played best as a team.

The second half became a somewhat more disjointed affair, with both teams giving the ball away a little too often.

Five minutes into the second half FCH had its first chance after the break. Nicklas Mouritsen sent in a good corner to the small area, where Nikolaj Hansen got in front of his marker and headed powerfully just onto the junction of the posts and crossbar. Uncomfortably close for FC Helsingør from the start of the second half.

That was followed by a phase in which the game swung back and forth, and neither team could really gain the upper hand. Just over an hour in, Kristoffer Munksgaard got a low cross to his feet and sent a good shot just wide of the post.

After 68 minutes Geertsen won the ball centrally and played a sharp diagonal ball out to Sebastian Czajkowski. Czajkowski drove to the byline and sent the ball back to Mouritsen with a backheel. Mouritsen delivered a cross to the near post, where Liam Jordan was ready. Jordan headed it, but wide.

Four minutes later Sebastian Czajkowski beat two men centrally and laid the ball across to a very free Frederik Bay, who unfortunately sent his shot wide. It was one of Bay’s last actions, as he was replaced by Philip Rejnhold shortly after

After 77 minutes the industrious Liam Jordan drifted across the pitch. Jordan changed direction, drove toward goal, and from a position a couple of meters outside the box fired a wicked dipping shot toward goal, where Jacob Pryts just managed to get the ball under control.

In the 85th minute the former FCH player David Boysen won the ball centrally and played a good ball out to the right wing to another former FCH player, Hans Christian “Kritte” Bonnesen. “Kritte” sent a sharp cross centrally, but Munksgaard could not steer the ball into the net, despite being in a good position.

In the same minute there was a senior debut for 16-year-old Alexander Lyng, who came on in place of Liam Jordan. In addition, Dalton Wilkins replaced Nicolai Geertsen, who had to go off injured after a blow to the shin.

Despite a slightly nervous finish, FCH held on and could note a good start, and a really good foundation for the coming matches against Esbjerg and Horsens.
