OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Bo Bay Hougaard steps down as director of FC Helsingør

After two intense years in the role as director of the professional football club in his childhood town, Bo Bay Hougaard has decided to resign from his position and take on new challenges.

– I have resigned because something new needs to happen in my life. New energy is needed to move the project forward and I feel that I have given everything I have in me, he says about his decision.

There have otherwise been plenty of challenges at the club since Bo joined the club from the right in 2023. Here he dribbled on with the ball after Lasse Lindblad’s heroic save of a club in free fall after a failed American ownership.

There was a lot to take on, and it proved more difficult than expected to raise the necessary capital locally to continue running the club.

Under Bo’s leadership, however, it was possible to enter into a strategic agreement in the form of Spanish NSN, which had otherwise hoped that the collaboration would continue.

– We are sorry that Bo has chosen to resign. Without him, our Danish-Spanish project would never have become a reality. His efforts for the club cannot be underestimated, says Ion Bilbao as spokesman for the new owners.

Until a permanent replacement in the director’s position is found, Ion Bilbao will serve as acting director.

– Fortunately, Bo leaves behind a well-structured organization with skilled employees. And with the strong local support around the club, we will surely keep the ship sailing until we have found Bo’s replacement, continues the Catalan, who has participated in the club’s management for three quarters of a year.

FC Helsingør wishes Bo Bay Hougaard all the best in his future projects and thanks him for his great efforts for the club!
