The match against HB Køge on Friday was costly for two of FC Helsingør’s most experienced players. Both Jeppe Kjær and Jonas Henriksen each suffered a meniscus injury in the match, scans this week have confirmed.
Jeppe Kjær was composed, but disappointed when he received the discouraging news:
I could already feel when I went out onto the pitch on Friday that something was not as it should be. Now we have received the scan results, and unfortunately it was, as we feared, a meniscus injury that requires surgery. So I need to get that over with as quickly as possible so I can start rehabilitation. Fortunately, we have a skilled physiotherapist who can help with that part. But unfortunately it will probably be at least half a year before I’m back on the pitch again.
Jonas Henriksen’s injury may not be quite as serious as Jeppe Kjær’s, but it was not good news that awaited the experienced full-back after the scan:
The meniscus was injured, as feared. Our own doctor has looked at it, and talked about there being a chance that I might be able to avoid surgery. But it still doesn’t look entirely good, unfortunately. It looks like six months out for me too.
As mentioned, both players are expected to be out for the rest of the 2020/2021 season.
