The season is over and the players have had their last working day on the training ground. That also means the work is over for the 24-year-old assistant coach Markus Uglebjerg.

Markus started his coaching career at FC Helsingør’s talent academy. It was also there that he first got to know head coach Daniel Pedersen. After 4,5 years, his career took him on to OB, where he was in charge of the Superliga team’s U14 side.

When FC Helsingør announced Daniel Pedersen as head coach after the winter break, a temporary replacement for the assistant coach position also had to be found.
The choice fell on Markus Uglebjerg and he was offered the job for the rest of the season.

The goal at the time was to secure the team a top-6 position in the NordicBet Liga’s regular season, which was achieved with an overall third place before the start of the playoffs.

“First and foremost, I’m happy that after a little over 1,5 years on Funen I got the opportunity to come home to Helsingør and support the work toward the goal of finishing in the top-6 of the NordicBet Liga. A goal we fortunately managed to achieve after a solid final push in the regular season. Now the opportunity has come for new challenges, which I have chosen to say yes to. I greatly appreciate my time at the club, and I wish the club, the staff, the players and the fans all the best for the future.”

The next step for the club is to develop a permanent solution for the team and expand the staff, so we are ready for the season start in July.

We would like to thank Markus for stepping in quickly and working extremely hard to achieve the club’s goals.
We wish Markus all the best in his future journey!
