FC Helsingør's young sensation Alexander Lyng has received plenty of praise and playing time since he was promoted to the first team, and now he can tick off another box in his development plan.

16-year-old Lyng has been selected for the U18 National Team for the two matches against Norway on 04/09, and either Sweden or Belgium on 07/09

Alexander Lyng was, of course, delighted with the selection
It is a great honor. I am incredibly excited. I have never been selected for the youth national teams before, so I am looking forward to getting out there and playing against other youth national teams, and seeing what the level is.

Sports director Brian Gellert is also pleased with the first officially selected FCH player in the youth national team setup:
It is a huge tribute to both the youth academy's great work, to our first-team coaching staff, and of course Lyng himself. He has put in a very hard piece of work, and has fully earned the minutes he has received. Hopefully this is the first of many national team selections for Lyng, and it follows in the footsteps of Eli Just and Callum's fine selections for New Zealand's Olympic team. Our American owners fully support our work with young Danish and foreign talents, and it says something about our club's youth development being on the right track. And it also shows that as a young player at FCH, you can indeed allow yourself to have ambitions. Both on behalf of the team, and for yourself.

In everyday life, Alexander Lyng combines football with school at HHX in Helsingør, and is part of the Helsingør Talent and Elite initiative, which makes it possible to combine education at upper secondary level with elite sport.
