FC Helsingør sells 18-year-old Alexander Lyng to Swiss Servette FC
Alexander broke through on the first team in the 21/22 season, where he also got off the mark in the goalscoring column in the blue-striped shirt.
In the recently completed season, he cemented his place among the best talents in the NordicBet Liga and already in the winter transfer window there was interest in the young winger.
He stayed in Helsingør, however, and helped the club secure the important top-6 position and thus a place in the promotion play-offs.
On the season’s final matchday, Alexander scored his 10th goal of the season and thereby took over as FC Helsingør’s top scorer for the season.
Alexander has also been successful at youth international level. He was part of the squad that back in March came incredibly close to qualifying for the European Championship. Unfortunately, the place went to the favorites from Spain, who advanced on the goal difference rule.
The fine performances now mean that Alexander’s time at FC Helsingør and in Denmark is over.
The journey now goes to the best Swiss league, where last season’s runners-up, Servette FC, are waiting for him.
“I would like to thank all the players at the club. I am super grateful and they have given me a lot. Without them to make me look good, I wouldn’t be here.
I also want to say a thousand thanks to all our fans. Even though there are not always many, you can feel them! Especially on away trips. It means a lot that they come along and are passionate. I will never forget a trip to Vendsyssel, where they were just standing there bare-chested and giving it their all. I of course hope they will continue to support the team and I am sure the boys will do well next season.”
With the sale of Alexander Lyng, director Bo Bay Hougaard emphasizes that FC Helsingør’s strategy of being a development house for talented players is realistic.
“Lyng needs to develop further at a higher level and he will find the best conditions for that abroad. The best Swiss league is on a level with the Danish Superliga, and therefore he now gets the opportunity to test himself against new challenges. This is part of FC Helsingør’s strategy. We want to be a development house, where we work extremely hard to offer our young talents the best conditions to reach their potential. This is also a stamp of approval that our strategy can be carried out. We are very happy on Alexander’s behalf and wish him all the best.”
